Core Purpose

Core Purpose:  The LHS Core Purpose is to  provide a challenging, rigorous curriculum empowering all students to be successful in the 21st century.

The Goals of LHS are...

1.      Implement an effective, challenging, and energized curriculum that promotes academic excellence and aesthetic appreciation for each student.

2.      Expand, improve, and maintain school facilities in order to provide a positive and productive learning environment.

3.      Foster a positive image of the Talladega County Schools.

4.      To integrate technology into the school.

5.      To provide alternate programs to meet needs of at risk students.

6.      Develop an equitable, adequate funding base within Talladega County.

7.      Enhance instruction and services for students by implementing a more effective and challenging staff development program.

Active Interventions for AHSGE preparation for Lincoln High School Students

Instructional Strategies

  • Alabama Reading Initiative teaching strategies are taught in all core classes.
  • AHSGE objectives are focused are the focus of all instruction daily.
  • Pacing guides are used for efficient and timely implementation of instructional objectives.
  • Correlation of pacing guides and the end of the month tests (EOMT) are used to measure mastery of  the objectives taught that month.

Staff Development

  • Teachers disaggregate test data annually to drive instruction.
  • Peer facilitated workshops are conducted annually to incorporate best practices
  • Stratgic Lesson Development training

Communication

  • Automated calling system to notify parents of attendance, meetings, and grading reports
  • Bi-weekly mailings of progress reports for students with failing grades, mid-grading reports are required by the school district.
  • Parental call logs for students with failures who have not passed AHSGE

Positive Student Reinforcement

  • Student Pep rallies for behavior
  • Bear Paws/ Bear Hugs
  • Non uniform dress days, healthy snack rewards for students
  • Link-Up Program - pairing groups of students with a Staff Mentor / Advisor during the students' tenure @ LHS

11th & 12th Grade Remediation AHSGE

  • Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies
    • Students identify strengths & weaknesses and undergo intensive reteaching of those specific areas
  • Collaborative teaching between SP. Ed. Teachers
  • Tutoring after school for AHSGE
  • Pull out for additional instruction in core classes during the school day
  • Academic Tutoring conducted by the graduation coach during the day
  • Writing across the curriculum
  • Reading objectives distributed across the curriculum in non-core classes
