Library Use: Students are encouraged to utilize the library media center for all reading and research needs.  However, students/parents

are responsible for any lost books that might be misplaced by the student during the year. Outstanding library fines and lost book costs

will result in lack of library privileges until the fines/costs are paid in full.  Students are encouraged to use the library media center during school hours with their student planner signed and dated by their teacher. 


Hours: Regular library hours are from 8:00-3:00 daily.


Scheduling Classes: Teachers may schedule the library media center for their classes to do research assignments and projects.


Circulation Policies: 

*Books and other items are checked out for a 14-day period.   
*Students may have up to 2 items checked out at any given time (as long as  they have no overdue items).  
*All reference materials (including encyclopedias) must be used in the LMC.  
*Overdue fines are $.10 per day.    
*Students with overdue items or who owe fines may not check out other  materials.  
*Teachers may check out a bulk number of materials for  "in-class" use with  a 1 week notice.  
*Lost items range in price from $15.00 to $50.00 depending on current  catalog value and must be paid for before other
items may be checked out.  
*A $2.00 fine will be assessed for the loss of a barcode.  
*A $1.00 fine will be assessed for the loss of a spine label.  
*Damaged items will be assessed a fine according to the amount of the damage. (Some items may need to be
replaced if they are beyond use due to damage.)

OBJECTIVE: To encourage LHS students to be life-long readers  Students are encouraged to use the LMC during school hours especially during  their study period with a pass signed by their teacher.  Teachers are also encouraged to schedule the LMC for their classes to do  research assignments and projects.


RULES TO LIVE BY IN THE LMC:

*NO candy, gum, food, or drink is allowed in the media center.
*Enter and exit quietly.
*Remain quiet and courteous at all times.
*Remember, the LMC is a WORK AREA, not a place to play or socialize.


The Collection:

Your Library Media Center has over 9,000 books and audiovisuals,  approximately 35 magazines, two daily newspapers, 6 students computers, 3  circulation computers, and 2 card catalog computers.   
The book collection includes the following types:  
FICTION-This includes all fiction books arranged alphabetically by the  author's last name.  
NONFICTION-This includes books arranged by the Dewey Decimal Classification  System (by subject or topic)      
000--Generalities, 100--Philosophy, 200--Religion, 300--Social Science,  400--Languages, 500--Science, 600--Technology
700--Arts & Recreation, 800-- Literature, 900--History  
BIOGRAPHY--This section includes books about people's lives.    
REFERENCE-This includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, almanacs, &  special reference books. 
Computer and Internet Use:
Research/Class Projects Printing ONLY  
*.10 cents per page for black print 
*.25 cents per page for color print  
You must have permission from a librarian or library assistant and "show us  the money" BEFORE you may print anything. 
 
All students who wish to use computers and/or the internet at Lincoln High School must have the TCBOE Computer Acceptable
Use Policy form signed  by their parents and on file in the office.
Parent permission is required before students may access the internet or use email on any school computer equipment.
